Climate Challenge NZ operates climatechallenge.co.nz. This notice explains what information may be collected when you visit the site or contact us, and how it is handled. It applies to this website, not to sites reached through external links.
Information we receive
The site does not require an account. If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any details you choose to include. The contact form prepares a draft in your own email application; its fields are not sent to this website. You can browse without providing contact details, but we cannot reply to a question without a way to reach you.
The hosting provider may create technical logs when pages are requested. These can include an IP address, time, requested page, browser information and error details. We use such records only to operate, secure and troubleshoot the site.
Cookies and third-party services
The static files on this site do not set analytics or advertising cookies and do not load third-party tracking scripts. Your browser or hosting provider may still use essential technical processes outside our direct control. External websites have their own privacy practices; review their notices before providing information there.
How information is used and shared
We use correspondence to answer your request, handle corrections and maintain the site. We do not sell contact details or use them for unsolicited marketing. Hosting and email providers may process information to deliver their services. We may also disclose information when required by law or where necessary to protect rights and security.
Storage, retention and overseas processing
We take reasonable steps to protect information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No internet or email service can guarantee absolute security. We keep personal information only while needed for the purpose for which it was collected or as required by law, then delete or de-identify it where practicable.
Service providers may store or process information outside New Zealand. Where we disclose personal information to an overseas recipient, we apply the safeguards required by New Zealand law.
Your rights
Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you may ask to access personal information we hold about you and request a correction. Write to notes@climatechallenge.co.nz with enough detail to identify the information. We may need to verify your identity before responding. You can also raise a privacy concern with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
